On behalf of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and the California Primary Care Association (CPCA), we want to say thank you for the tireless work you do every day to make such a positive difference in your community. Together, NACHC and CPCA are working to ensure that you have the necessary tools, training and technical assistance, and resources to achieve your health care mission.
As you know, NACHC is the only national trade association serving and representing the interests of America’s community health centers. Through NACHC, health centers have access to advocacy, technical assistance, staff and board training, networking opportunities, cost-saving programs, and countless resources that enable them to have an impact on the way America delivers its health care services – high quality, affordable, and accessible to all. CPCA is at the forefront of the state’s ever-changing health care, works to strengthen and improve California’s health care delivery system by advocating for necessary state policy changes on behalf of the community-based primary care clinics. The galvanized strength of NACHC, CPCA, and the nation’s network of community-based health care providers, produces the power to make a change in the lives of over 20 million people at over 8,000 delivery sites – spanning communities in all 50 States and U.S. territories, including the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands.
Our partnership makes a difference. Membership in both NACHC and CPCA generates change. As our community continues to bounce back from the recent budget cuts made to our base level funding and the ACA Health Center Trust Fund, we must prepare for the upcoming fight to defend our program's financial future. As you are aware, the next few months will be critical for our health centers and the people they serve as budget negotiations surrounding the federal deficit and domestic spending reductions continue. Current discussions/negotiations related to the federal government's FY 2012 budget and beyond, coupled with demands for significant reductions in the federal deficit, will have a drastic impact on many domestic programs. Everything, including Medicaid, Medicare, and health center funding (among other discretionary spending) will be on the table. Now, more than ever, we need 100% support from the network of 8,000 community health centers across the country in order to effectively defend the program's financial future.
